The Gillette College Workforce & Community Development Department offers comprehensive training and educational opportunities designed to improve skills and advance career prospects for individuals in the region. Focusing on various industries, the department provides hands-on learning, expert instruction, and resources to help community members reach their personal and professional goals. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Training
Gillette College's Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) program provides aspiring commercial drivers with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to begin a successful career in the transportation industry. Trainees will learn the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), become familiar with the primary controls and basic operation of a commercial motor vehicle (CMV), and develop the skills necessary to conduct thorough vehicle inspections.
The program also emphasizes safe driving practices in a variety of traffic conditions, along with effective shifting and backing techniques. Students will gain practical experience with coupling and uncoupling combination vehicles and learn essential procedures for operating commercial vehicles safely and efficiently. Through comprehensive classroom instruction and hands-on training, Gillette College prepares students for success in the commercial driving profession.
